Cropped Circles Series 2012

The new series "Cropped Circles" were inspired by irrigation circles in the deserts of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas as seen from an airplane. I cropped an image and worked on it with digital paint programs adjusting colors and values. These have a relation to the symbology of the circle, infinity, the sun, moon, and planets and woman. I have done over 80 studies for this series. Most of the paintings will be in oil paint.

Storage for Oil Paint

I have several hundred tubes of oil paint. I store the tubes in air tight Zip Loc bags organized into twelve bags as follows: Red Purple / Red / Red Orange / Orange / Yellow Orange / Yellow / Yellow Green / Green / Blue Green / Blue / Blue Purple / Purple / Blacks, Whites and Grays. This is an efficient chromatic storage based on the Munsell Color Wheel. It is much easier to find a tube by searching just the bag containing the tubes in various tints, shades and full chroma of one of the twelve hue families. The air tight bags also prevent oxidation drying of the oil paint in the tubes. If you have a large freezer you could place them in the freezer for long term storage.
