"Black Canyon" encaustic {hot wax} on panel
This was begun last fall at the "Three Masters Presentation" where I demonstrated the process of hot wax painting. I revisited it this week.

- John Warren Oakes
- John Warren Oakes was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1941. He studied art and design with the Art Instruction School of Minneapolis. At 21, he received a scholarship to the Art Students League of New York A.B. degree from Western Kentucky University. Attended University of Iowa receiving the M.A. and M.F.A. Degrees from the School of Art. In 1974, he received the C.A.A. From Harvard University. He is Professor Emeritus of Art at Western Kentucky University where he taught art for 47 years. Oakes has exhibited nationally and internationally in 484 exhibitions and 51 one-man shows.
